About My Clients
I work with children, teens, and adults facing ADHD, anxiety, mood issues, trauma, or life stress. My clients describe me as bold, insightful, warm, and easy to talk to. I also provide neuropsychological evaluations for children, teens, and young adults to support diagnosis and recommendations. My patients are often diverse, seeking to better understand themselves and looking for perspective or strategies. I offer care that’s flexible, focused, and grounded in humor and practical insight.
My Background and Approach
I have a PsyD in Counseling Psychology from Our Lady of the Lake University and a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from Texas A&M University. My background includes training in neuropsychology, vocational rehabilitation, and strengths-based brief therapy. I’ve worked in hospitals, medical settings, and private practice. I take an active, honest, and collaborative approach—offering feedback, sharing research, and asking meaningful questions. I use evidence-based approaches, including: • CBT – to understand how thoughts affect emotions and behavior • ACT – to clarify values and respond more flexibly to stress • SFBT – to highlight strengths and focus on solutions • MI – to support motivation and change without pressure Sessions may focus on identifying patterns, taking perspective, or learning strategies to cope or make change.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe people are fundamentally capable, resilient, and in pursuit of a meaningful life. I was trained in both neuropsychology and strengths-based therapy, with a foundation in disability-informed care and social justice principles—so my work is grounded in science, but also in respect for lived experience. I value education: helping people understand how the brain works and how things like disability, trauma, or marginalization shape our emotional and cognitive lives. I believe in clear feedback, useful tools, and honest reflection. My outlook is shaped by a strong belief in equity and the impact of body and brain-based differences on daily life. I integrate science and clinical insight to offer perspective, encourage reflection, and support practical progress. I believe therapy is most helpful when it deepens self-understanding, highlights what’s getting in the way, and supports people in taking meaningful steps forward. I am proudly LGBTQ+ affirmative.
