About My Clients
I specialize in working with individuals who exist 'outside the norm,' including queer, punk, leftist, kinky, trans, non-monogamous, and other communities who seek open-minded support, understanding, and clarity -- without having to defend their choices or teach me the 101 class about their lived experience. Loss intersects with many challenging life events, extending beyond death to include breakups, career shifts, exploration of gender and identity, estrangement, and more.
My Background and Approach
I am passionate about being a lifelong learner and routinely exceed the minimum requirements for continuing education credits because I simply cannot stop myself from seeking out new learning experiences. In our work together, you can expect fresh approaches mixed with the tried and true, a spirit of curiosity, and a consistent base of non-judgment. I also love to collaborate and learn from my clients and welcome tidbits you find that we can dive into more deeply. I'm most passionate about 'bottom up' approaches such as somatics and EMDR to use the wisdom of the body's sensations and movements to access trauma and other deeply-stored experiences that affect your present life.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe we all need support from time to time and that it takes a person of strength to seek it out. I'm not always fond of feeling vulnerable myself (who is?) and that's one of the reasons I do this work -- it's incredibly challenging, but I also know it's the key to deeper relationships and, often, a meaningful life. Ambiguity is difficult to tolerate, but it's easier with company! I see myself as a toolbox and support system; ultimately, I want to collaborate and transfer tools to you, and set you up for leaving our time together better equipped for whatever's next. More than anything, I believe you're inherently capable and deserving.
