About My Clients
I specialize in working with neurodivergent and/or queer teens and emerging adults and with people who identify as LGBTQIA+, consensually non-monogamous/polyamorous, or kinky. Many of my clients struggle with depression, general anxiety, social anxiety, ADHD, feelings of low self-worth, or chronic pain/health challenges. Ioffer individual, group, and relationship therapy virtually and in my office.
My Background and Approach
For 20 years, I described my job as “teaching teenagers to think.” critical thinking is still at the core of my approach. Each person's course of therapy will be different. However, my core philosophy is deeply rooted in a humanistic orientation. I believe in an eclectic approach that employs techniques from person-centered, acceptance and commitment, mindfulness, gestalt, and existential therapy. Mutual respect and cooperative exploration are my guiding principles. I have an informal, conversational, and what one client described as an “easy and approachable” style. All I ask for from you is an openness to explore.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I'm very open with my beliefs. Some therapists believe in being a blank space. I believe that those who are meant to work with me will find their way to my office (virtual or in person.) I identify as a social justice warrior, a progressive, and a feminist. I'm proud to champion DEI. I'm a lifelong learner. I previously studied mental health interventions for chronic pain and am now focusing on human sexuality. I also believe in downtime. I love to read, paddle board, swim, and spend time with friends and family.
