About My Clients
Do you find yourself wondering how to figure out what to do with your life, or how to enjoy your activities, without the constant shadow of stress? Or wondering why your days don't feel meaningful, but unsure of how to change what you do? Do you wish things could be different, but you're not sure how? Let's work together to figure this out. I best serve clients who are looking for support with anxiety, depression, purpose-finding, life transitions, and identity development.
My Background and Approach
I approach therapy and counseling with the belief that everything exists as part of systems: economic, social, political, and so on. We don't exist in seclusion, and thus we must acknowledge the context of our lives when we're working on developing a preferred life for ourselves. By incorporating nature therapy, we find ways to bring ourselves into the present and set aside stress, anxiety, worry, and other uncomfortable emotional experiences in order to develop a way of living that we enjoy. Additionally, I believe that we have a say in how problems affect our lives. While we can't change everything, we can develop our own agency to become effective and satisfied in our lives. I have a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage & Family Therapy from Pepperdine University. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and have a background in nature therapy, equine assisted therapy, and animal assisted therapy.
My Values as a Therapist
My spirits of practice inform the way I approach clients, therapy, life, and personal development. I do my best to live by these intentions and ways of being: (1) Curious - open to learning about the world, others, and their experiences (2) Nonjudgmental & Aware - we all make judgments; recognizing them, acknowledging them, and then choosing to examine whether they're true are an important part of working with people and lives (3) Effective - understanding why I do what I do, and helping other's understand the same so that purpose, values, and action are congruent
